Well this momentous week has saw Rangers Football Club on Sunday return rightfully to were they belong. The absolute zenith of Scottish Fitbaw after an absence of SEVEN YEARS.
Casting one’s eye back from Sunday’s match, through those ups and downs in those seven long years for Rangers, My mind was brought back to the old testament figure Joseph from the book of Genesis.
And for your sake I suggest you should do too.
After the Aberdeen result last night I’ve decided to preface the tale of Joseph with this cautionary tale and a plea for calm.
By the looks of social media we as a fan base are up and doon more times than a bi-polar hookers knickers.
First we are the best thing since sliced bread. Then in the space of 48 hours we are shite, terrible, tear the whole thing up and start again.
It wasn’t just last night. There’s a few to mention this season.
The game in Russia for a start. Now when Rangers had a team worth 10’s of Million of quality in the 90’s and 2000’s I wouldn’t expect to automatically win, never mind score 3 goals.
The Moscow game at Ibrox is one you should’ve won you could argue.
Lets get a wee bit of perspective shall we.
Let us Cast our minds back from the Zenith of our Biblical task that faced Rangers not only on the pitch but off it as well, to our nadir of 2012.
Think back then to how you felt. Now think now of how you feel When we were top of the Scottish league for the first time Since Ally McCoist’s Team was an astonishing 15 points clear of Celtic at one point seven years go.
Think To how you feel now that we have a game in Vienna that could guarantee us European football after xmas.
Could You have believed it then in those days of 2012?
HELL could you have believed it last July. When Pedro was shouting at you from a bush having spent millions of pounds?
Some say “We haven’t got the squad to compete in 4 competitions”
I would’ve have agreed with you to a certain extent that we should put all our eggs in 1 basket and concentrate on the League and win 55 instead.
But that’s not what Rangers do. As a Rangers board member said
“Rangers needs to be built back together brick by brick”
Then playing and competing in Europe is one of those cornerstones.Along with Challenging for the title that’s what we do.
The Players, the manager, the coaching staff and the club will all be better for it.
I have no doubt it will build the foundations of a team that will not just challenge for one year but dominate for future years to come.
Lets not make 55 an all consuming passion that will see us look short term and not long term.
Fuck obsessing over stopping what ever record Celtic claim to be going for.
The game has been rigged for years for the benefit of one club in Scotland and one club only.
Even though they have been helped by puppets sometimes to the detriment of their own team.
Have a look at the Artist impression at the very top. Where are Celtic feeder team Dundee United now?
Celtic this year have done this very thing. They’ve took their eye of the bigger picture.
One only has to look at the slip ups they had to lesser teams and after the Rangers game at the BJK camp.
That Celtic performance was probably the most kitchen sink 0 to 90 minutes display I’ve seen from a Celtic team in the last 4 years of mostly drubbings.
And bhoy did they all (players included) celebrate that as the record books will show slim 1-0 as if they had won the world cup itself.
The hatred shown to us that day the Players the management the fans. Not only inside the ground but outside. Was the most palpably rancid and hate-filled one could argue has ever-seen, and why?
Their wee arses were twitchy at the fact that a Stevie G led Rangers team would actually have the audacity to stop what ever record they claim to be going for.
THE PRESSURE IS ALL ON THEM!
Cast your mind back to the early to mid 90’s when a far superior side was going for 9 in a row then 10.
The players said that about 6 they started to believe that it was on.
Then as it was getting nearing it started getting into that not only could they win 9 in a row but 10 in a row.
They also thought we could be the ones to fuck it up.
The pressure is all on them as I said.
But all that venom and hatred that 90 minutes gut busting display was to no avail towards Rangers that day if you go out the next game and draw 0-0 with St Mirren.
A thing that’s been over looked by the wailing & Gnashing of teeth over Rangers dropping points against perennial league runners up Aberdeen. Was that Celtic dropped points in a game they should’ve put to bed easily by all accounts.
This is one thing we can all agree on.
That the last few years Celtic -despite millions and millions more money to spend than the rest of us thanks to Champions League money- have become a poorer side on the pitch.
Not as dominant over the course of a season as past teams and that’s got to be a worry for not only Celtic but their fans dreaming for records to be broken
And as we all know when Bheasts get frightened they get angry.

December 2016 Rangers 14 points behind league leaders
December 2017 11 points behind league leaders
Now in 2018 1 point behind league leaders

Thanks for reminding us about arguably 2 of the worst season Rangers have ever had in their history.
But I’m going to give you constant moaners on social media another wee comparison that I hope will make you think in a more cerebral, bigger picture way.
Can you guess what it is yet?
Yip its a comparable league table from that time another young ex Liverpool legend making his debut as a manager at a top club.
We were 9 points behind the league leaders that year at this comparable time.
Now factor in that it was 2 points for a win back then you could argue that Souness side were worse off than a rudderless Rangers side who just had Captain Pedro jumped ship and Captains mate Murty took over.
FFS imagine if there was social media back then?
The magnificent bastard that Souness was and is would have had the Magnificent bit chopped off!
One thing that did happen to change all that was the quality signing of England’s Graham Roberts in January.
We could make a start by first recalling Greg Docherty back from loan and making a quality signing or Loan not for the sake of it but if it will add to the team as a whole.
In saying all that it’s not just about money as a FF poster commented.
But the facts are, this is a young team with players who are inconsistent, have punched above our weight at times in Europe and players who are experiencing playing in front of a demanding crowd for the first time in their career.
